Frequently Asked Questions

Why another church?

Our desire is to see a reformed expression of the Christian faith in Hot Springs where those with similar convictions could worship accordingly. This would be seen in our commitment to historic teachings and practices of the Christian church. Among many things, this looks like the singing of psalms, primacy of corporate worship (including children), sexed piety (demonstrated in family, church, and civil society), and a belief that Christ’s victory in this world will happen through his church and not in spite of it.

What is your denominational affiliation?

Hot Springs Reformed Church is an independent reformed church with no denominational affiliation.  Our church polity could be described as elder-led congregationalism.

Where do you meet?

We currently meet in homes.  If the Lord blesses our number, we would be eager to find a larger space to accommodate.  Please contact us for this week’s meeting location.

What time do you meet?

We meet at 10:00 AM every Sunday.

If Scripture is sufficient, why have the creeds and confessions?

While creeds, confessions, and statements of faith are helpful tools they are always subservient to Scripture itself.  Creeds, confessions, and statements are simply summaries of how we believe Scripture is to be best understood.

Why do you sing psalms?

We believe that singing of psalms is biblically commanded in passages such as Colossians 3:16, and was also the common practice of the church for ~3000 years.  We’ve found that after singing the psalms for a while, most people would never choose to go back to modern worship music.
